The Work of Forgiveness

Forgiveness releases revenge without pretending harm was harmless.

Colossians 3:12–13

Biblical forgiveness is not denial, instant trust, or permission for continued harm. It is a refusal to make retaliation the center of our future.

Because forgiveness can be a process, we may need to surrender the same injury more than once. Wisdom can still require boundaries, truth-telling, accountability, and time.

Begin with honesty before God. Name what happened, grieve what was lost, and ask for freedom from being governed by the injury.

Reflect

What is one difference you need to remember between forgiveness and the rebuilding of trust?

A prayer for today

Merciful God, free me from revenge, guide me in truth, and give me wisdom about healthy boundaries.
