Rest Is an Act of Trust
Rest reminds us that the world is sustained without our constant effort.
Psalm 4:8Stopping can feel threatening when productivity has become proof of worth. Yet sleep and Sabbath both confront the illusion that everything depends on us.
Biblical rest is not indifference to responsibility. It is a rhythm that places responsibility inside trust. We work faithfully, then release what only God can carry.
A small boundary around rest may be a spiritual practice: putting down the screen, ending the workday, receiving a quiet meal, or sleeping without rehearsing tomorrow.
Reflect
What does your resistance to rest reveal about what you believe depends entirely on you?
A prayer for today
“Keeper of my life, help me work faithfully and rest without fear.”
