Spiritual Growth•7 minutes
Abide Before You Act
Fruitfulness flows from connection, not frantic spiritual performance.
John 15:4–5Branches do not strain to manufacture life independently. They bear fruit by remaining connected to the source of life. Jesus uses this image to relocate the center of discipleship from anxious production to abiding relationship.
Abiding includes Scripture, prayer, obedience, and love, but these are ways of remaining present to grace—not techniques for controlling outcomes.
Before adding another task, create a small space to receive: read slowly, become quiet, and remember whose life sustains yours.
Reflect
Where has spiritual activity replaced living connection with Christ?
A prayer for today
“Jesus, keep me close to you. Let today’s actions grow from received grace rather than anxious striving.”
